An Idea is Born

WMXP 95.5 FM

WMXP 95.5 FM hit the airwaves in 2007 as part of an effort to create space for local voices and intentional programming.

The Malcolm X Center For Human Rights - WMXP 95.5 Community Radio Station has an immediate
need to pay rent for the land on which the radio transmission tower is located!

The tower is the central piece of equipment that enables the station's broadcasts.

Since 2007, WMXP 95.5 has been the only FCC-registered low-power Black community-owned and operated station in South Carolina, providing independent local and national programming for and by Greenville’s Black community!
